Scope of the Project
The Aus Ship Group wanted us to design and install a custom 25m x 34m fully enclosed dome container shelter setup at their Rivergate Marine in Brisbane. They wanted to use it as a luxury-boat-building facility.
The Challenges for the Shipping Container Shelter
There was already an existing hardstand area in the marina, and we needed to design the structure with enough space for their team to work in. Because they’re building luxury boats, the space needed side panels, gates and a removable end wall so the machinery and equipment could have access and so they could remove the vessels upon completion. We engineered and installed a floating slab and weight anchors on site because they couldn’t use concrete piers to anchor the structure to the existing hardstand.
The Outcome
Our team designed the shipping container shelter layout with a 6m gap between the containers which allowed the machinery and equipment to move in and out. We mounted the container dome to the outside edge of double-stacked 40ft containers, which gave the space the extended height necessary to house luxury boats. Enclosing the rear of the dome container shelter was a full-end wall, while a half-end wall covered the apex section at the front. We completed the project within budget and schedule, achieving complete customer satisfaction.
