When Weld-On Mounting Makes Sense

Weld-on mounting also delivers maximum structural strength for your installations however they require more work to relocate than Twistlock Mounts. If you’re building shelter infrastructure on company-owned property, welded mounting provides a strong connection, and less maintenance to check for loosened fasteners or positioning of steel. However, that level of permanence will mean deployment delays. Welding requires hot works permits, qualified welders, and acceptance that containers sustain permanent damage that may prevent resale or alternative use.

Our brackets lock into existing ISO corner castings, the reinforced steel fittings designed for container lifting and securing. This means that when your project is completed, simply unlock the brackets and remove the dome, and your containers can be returned in original condition without damage, saving money for your business.

How Our Twistlock System Works

The brackets engage directly with ISO corner castings at each container corner. These castings provide exceptional load-bearing capacity that our system leverages through a precision-engineered locking mechanism.

During installation, you’ll need to insert the bracket into the corner casting aperture and rotate to the locked position. This mechanical connection resists uplift, lateral forces, and vibrational loads while distributing forces across the corner casting’s reinforced structure.

Our system is engineered and certified for Wind Regions A, B, C or D when installed to specifications, and each installation receives full engineer certification documenting AS/NZS 1170.2:2021 compliance – the same regulatory documentation welded installations provide.

This mounting system also integrates with our base rail waterproofing system. The base rail seals on mounting points rather than container roofs, eliminating water ingress common with traditional methods. You get identical weather protection to welded installations while maintaining the flexibility of relocation.

Finally, our Twistlock Mounting System has been proven in some of Australia’s most demanding environments. We recently supplied and installed a 12×12 Wind Region D certified dome for Pilbara Ports Authority, one of the most regulated and weather-exposed operating environments in the country.
