Custom Solutions in Australia: Container Shelter for RCR

Installing a shipping container dome takes the skills and knowledge of experts to ensure the process runs smoothly and according to schedule. The Scope of the Container Shelter

RCR Tomlinson asked us to design and install a 12m x 24m post-mounted shipping container dome for their Haughton solar farm in Queensland. This dome was to span between existing site offices and buildings at their existing solar farm.

The Challenges

Because a site office was already in place before our arrival, we had to ensure there were no safety hazards to access ways and that we wouldn’t obscure any office entrances with our post placement. Our team had to plan how to lay the footings, install the posts and erect the shipping container dome while working around these existing obstacles.

The Outcome

Our design and engineering team designed a layout that worked amongst the existing buildings. This ensured the container shelter had adequate structural support while allowing for the free movement of personnel between buildings. We added gutter kits to the length of the shelter to catch and collect rainwater and assist with waterproofing the setup. Our team completed the installation within schedule and budget, with no recorded safety incidents on-site at any time.
